Alexis W. Parsons, 90, formerly of Fostoria, died on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005 at Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin.
He was born in Akron on April 18, 1915 to the late Edward E. and Mary O. (Beckley) Parsons. He married Mabel V. Hamilton on Nov. 21, 1939 in Gattlenburg, Ky., and she preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 2002. Those who survive her include two daughters, Mary Ellen (Paul) Conger of Ravenna and Carol Ann (William) Woosley of Ocala, Fla.; two sons, Michael Lee (Debbie) Parsons of Wayne and Mark Duane Parsons of Bowling Green; six grandchildren, Karen Aichholz, Jeff Conger, Bob Lease Jr. Laura Slogar, Joan Gangelhoff and Cheyenne Parsons; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Emerson Parsons of Gibsonburg, Eldon Parsons of Winterhaven, Fla. and Brooks Parsons of Sun City, Fla.; and one sister, Bernadine Fath of Lexington, Ky. He was preceded by two brothers, William and Richard Parsons, and one sister, Bernice Wolfarth. A graduate of Pemberville High School, Mr. Parsons retired in 1977 as kiln operator from Bendix (now Honeywell) in Fostoria after 33 years of employment. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Tiffin and had been active with the Good Samaritans in pervious years. Mr. Parsons played the guitar and sang in the Red Star Cowboys square dance band along with his brother Bill for a number of years. He also enjoyed camping and spending his time with his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, 2005 in the Mann-Hare Funeral Home in Fostoria. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Gardens in Arcadia. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Monday for two hours prior to the services.
