Native Fostorian and longtime guitar player Seth Guillen has made the transition from classic rock to just plain classic.
But it hasn’t been easy.
Guillen will come back to Fostoria to show off what 12 years of playing guitar, including three years of classical training, can do.
Guillen will perform Saturday, May 17, 7 p.m. at St. Wendelin Church, playing classical works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Hector Villalobos, Fernando Sor, and Julian Arcas.

Spring brings a refreshing time of new beginnings and that’s what’s happening with the Biggest Challenge competition too.
The recent Biggest Winner Challenge that began March 31 just finished week six and is a big success.
Sponsored by the Geary YMCA and Fostoria Community Hospital, the eight week program brought out 19 teams consisting of three people each.
“They feel better about themselves and more comfortable with the workout environment.” says YMCA personal trainer, Chong Wyant.

A familiar face will became a new one in 2009.
Lakota will become the newest member of the Midland Athletic League with the start of the 2009-10 school year after two unanimous votes Monday.
The MAL Executive Committee gave its OK in an 11-0 vote Monday morning at Hopewell-Loudon, followed by the Lakota Local Schools Board of Education approving the move from the Suburban Lakes League via a 5-0 vote.
Lakota will become the first school to join the MAL since 1990, when Carey and Mohawk both joined out the North Central Conference.

Darrell Holman and Amanda Brewer are May’s Fostoria Community Heroes.
Holman is a Meals on Wheels volunteer and is a team worker for funeral dinners at St. Wendelin Parish.
Holman was nominated by Lynn Reino, Meals on Wheels coordinator.
“Darrell is a great Meals on Wheels volunteer,” Reino said in her nomination form.
“He is always willing to pick up extra days if I need him,” she added. “He has always been reliable — I never need to worry that he won’t show up.”
Darrell and his wife, Sharon, have been Eucharist ministers at St. Wendelin for 38 years.
