Anyone else out there from the class of 79? I joined the Army and left Fostoria in September of 1980 and have only been back on occasion to visit. It was a wonderful place to grow up back then. From the sounds of the comments made here, it still is. After serving our country for 8 years, I settled down in AZ. I'm happily married and have a 22 year old son who is proudly serving our country in the United States Marine Corp. He is an Iraqi war veteran and a proud Purple Heart recipient. I come here on occasion to see what's happening in my old hometown. My sister was in the paper not too long ago for a quilt raffle. Take care and God Bless. |

Thanks for the writing up the article on our friend and Dancing Instructor, Abel Tyson. However, we were a little disappointed in the photo, I think whoever worked on that needs more practice in photo shopping..it was pretty chopped up around the facial areas. |

the helping hands store is a eye sore every week sometimes twice aweek they unload truck loads of stuff; what scares me is that if a fire was to break out there with that stores overload it would take day to put the fire out witch could bring another loss in our town witch would involve the fostoria focus there should be a law about this or is there we don;t need another loss in fostoria. concern n fostoria |

I always enjoy reading Leonard Skonecki's articles, as well as the other features that are put online for us renegade former Fostorians. The article about the 19th century buildings lost in the recent downtown fire reminded me of the last great downtown fire, in 1962, that took the Hays Hotel and the Alcott Building on the north end of the block.
By the way, is the building that houses the Focus located on the site of the old State Theater?
