Lowell R. Robbins, 76, of Tiffin, Ohio, formerly of Fostoria, died Saturday evening, Sept. 20, 2014, at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, Ohio.
He was born Aug. 12, 1938, in Indiana to James and Winona (Wiggs) Robbins. Lowell married Shirley Guthrie on March 28, 1967, in Indiana, she died Feb. 18, 2008.
He was a loving and supportive father to George Lee and Craig (Lori) Robbins of Fostoria, Steve Robbins of West Palm Beach, Florida, daughters; Sheri Mathews, Marilyn Hickerson and Christy Robbins all of Fostoria.
He was a caring and devoted brother to Frances (deceased) James Robbins of Tiffin, his sister Kathy Slagle of Tiffin also devoted to special friend Martha Bereza. His is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Robbins was the owner and operator of Lowell’s Pest Control for many years and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Calling hours were private and handled by the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior’s Association.

Ismael B. Bernal, 90, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Fostoria, passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at Mission Trail Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.
He was born Jan. 31, 1924, in Gonzales, Texas to the late Miquel and Soledad (Barron) Bernal. He married Maria Carmona on Dec. 2, 1942, in Mexico and she survives in San Antonio.
Also surviving are 11 children: Marvin (Yolanda) Bernal, Fostoria, Mike (Maria) Bernal, San Antonio, Aurora Robinson, Fostoria, Bob Bernal, Fostoria, Alice (Butch) Gonzales, Fostoria, Mario (Trini) Bernal, Rosenburg, Texas, Raul (Rachel) Bernal, San Antonio, Estela Bernal, San Antonio, Sylvia (Abel) Leal Jr., Fostoria, John Bernal, Fostoria, and Rosalinda (Raymond) Valdez, San Antonio; a brother, Daniel Bernal Sr., Fostoria; 28 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three half sisters, Teresa Cortez and Concha Mendoza of Findlay and Cheva Vela, Mexico.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Joe Bernal Sr.; twin daughters, Consuelo Bernal and Consuelo Bernal; a grandson, Miguel Bernal Jr., and son-in-law, Lloyd Robinson.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Parish and owner of Bernal Hauling Service until 1984 and he retired from Atlas on Dec. 31, 1985.

Paul W. Wagner

Paul W. Wagner, 91, formerly of North Union Street and a resident of Independence House in Fostoria, Ohio, died Sunday morning Sept. 14, 2014, at Independence House.
He was born Dec. 15, 1922 in Tiffin, Ohio to Paul and Helen (O’Harn) Wagner. He married Carolyn L. Reinhart on Sept. 6, 1952, at St. Wendelin Church in Fostoria, and she died March 8, 1999.
Surviving are his children Charles Wagner of Spencerville, Ann (T.J.) Sacksteder and Jane Wagner of Fostoria, Marty (Michael) Morehouse of Tucson, Arizona, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded by his parents and wife, Carolyn.
Wagner retired in 1982 as a clerk with the Norfolk Southern Railroad with more than 40 years of service.
He was U.S. Army Veteran during World War II, serving in the 71st Infantry Division and receiving the Bronze Star.
He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, a 1940 St. Wendelin High School graduate, a recipient of the St. Wendelin Most Distinguished Elementary School Graduate Award, and a former member of the St. Wendelin School Advisory Committee.

Kathryn J. “Kate” Carrel, 88, Fostoria, passed away 12:38 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
She was born April 8, 1926, in Kenton to Ralph L. and Helen E. (Bailey) Scharf. She married Gene W. Carrel Oct. 11, 1947, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria and he died April 26, 1996.
Surviving is a son, Stephen M. (Tess) Carrel, Findlay; daughters, Lynn (James) Searles, Fostoria and Diane (Roger) Hager, Bellefontaine; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, John W. Carrel; sister, Bette Nye; and a brother, Don Scharf.
She was a homemaker, a 1944 graduate of St. Wendelin High School, and a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Friday Sept. 12, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.
Mass of Christian burial was 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Wendelin Church. Entombment followed in St. Wendelin Mausoleum.

Mary Ellen Kline-Cox, 67, of Risingsun, Ohio passed away Monday evening, Sept, 8, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on Sept. 19, 1946 in Fremont, Ohio to Ray and Betty (Bentz) Kline. She married James A. Cox on May 26, 1964, in Risingsun, Ohio, and he survives.
Also surviving are her sons, Robert (Becky) Cox of Wonder Lake, Illinois, and Michael (Jennifer) Cox of Risingsun; sisters; Janice (R.V.) Myers and Linda (Stephen) O’Dell, both of Fostoria, Patricia (John) Searles of Risingsun; half-brothers; Timothy (Tina) Cox and Mark Cox, both of Risingsun; and her grandchildren; Ashley, Adam (Barbara), Tyler and Miranda Cox.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a 1964 Lakota High School graduate, a member of the Scott Trinity United Methodist Church near Risingsun, and an honorary member of the Risingsun Fire Department Auxiliary.
She retired in 2004 from the Wood County Department of Building Inspection. She enjoyed camping, wintering in Texas, dancing and riding her bike.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, Ohio with Pastor Abe Cramer officiating.

Amiah Shawntey Foster Taylor, age 1 month, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
She was born July 30, 2014, to Shaquiel Taylor and Zabriean Foster of Fostoria. She is survived by her parents; twin sister, Aniah LaTonya Foster Taylor; grandparents, Anita Foster of Fostoria and Marian Cousin of Cleveland; great grandparents, Linda Dear and Darlene Dessausure, both of Fostoria, Anthony Stevenson of Maryland; uncle, Ruben Taylor Jr. of Fostoria; aunts, Destinie Farris of Fostoria and Raven Taylor of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Allene Smith, Lucille Shields, and Ruben Taylor Sr.
We were able to enjoy Amiah’s presence for 28 days. She will forever be in our hearts. We will never forget her smile, her cry, her big beautiful eyes, her big feet, and her tiny little hands. We love you so much Pumpkin and we are always thinking about you.
A private service was conducted by Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria.

James P. Theis, 68, of Risingsun, died early Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Toledo Hospital.
He was born April 6, 1946, in Toledo the son of Clarence and Alma (Keiffer) Theis.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Theis of Risingsun; sons, Byron Theis of Fostoria and Keith (Teresa) Theis of Bloomville; grandchildren, Gage, Blade, Zachary, Brianna, and Myra; and siblings, Joan (Thomas) Steinmetz of Fostoria, Alan (Renee) Theis of Westchester, Pennsylvania, and Edward Theis of Fostoria.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He was a 1965 St. Wendelin High School graduate.
Theis married Sharon Reidling on Dec. 2, 1967, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church.
He owned Theis Roofing for 30 years. He also worked at Honeywell for many years, working midnights, and roofing during the day.
Theis was a very straight forward, honest, hard-working man who would help anyone who was in need. He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed listening to classic rock and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
A memorial Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria.

Cindy Cooper, 65, of Fostoria, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 3, 1949, in Fostoria the daughter of Thomas and Vivian (Weaks) Cooper.
She is survived by her husband, Cliff Helms of Fostoria; children, Diana Miesle of Denver, Colorado; Bryan (Sherry) Fehnel of Elkhart, Indiana; Jeffrey (Jennifer) and James (Jackie) Starkey, both of Fostoria; Kevin Groves of Findlay; Korey (Stasha) Starkey of Denver, CO; 28 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Randy (Susie) Cooper of Fostoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-parents, Richard and Vivian Miesle; children, Joseph Starkey, Kristi Perkins; and siblings, Diana and Bradley Cooper.
Cindy was a proud homemaker and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed using her computer and making up games for the kids.
She was a very loving, giving, graceful and compassionate person who was always willing to give of her time and resources to those who were in need.
A funeral was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, Fostoria with a one-hour visitation from 2-3 p.m., with Pastor Jeff Waite officiating.

Lillian R. Sheets, 100, of Fostoria, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2104 at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria.
She was born May 29, 1914, in Tiffin to the late Raymond and Elma (Borer) Murphy. She married Ralph C. Sheets on July 16, 1938, and he preceded her in death Dec. 4, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas E. (Deb) Sheets and Kevin R. Sheets, both of Fostoria; three grandsons, Keith (Auera Robinson) Sheets, Aaron (Angela) Sheets, and Brett (Brittany Bushong) Sheets, and eight great-grandchildren, Dylan, Macey, Addison, Audrey, Emma, Tavin, Drayson, and Jayden.
Sheets was a graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School. She was an avid reader, completing books from cover to cover and newspapers from front to back in order to keep up with current events which she enjoyed sharing conversation about. She was also an avid bowler and golfer, where she accelerated in her putting skills.
She loved and adored her visits with her great-grandchildren and the special times they spent together. She had attended her great-grandson’s baseball games up until just a year ago, and of course, donning the baseball cap!
She had recently begun hat collecting and her 100th birthday was celebrated with a “hats off…
